THEATER

THEY'RE BACK: 'Designing Women — 2020 The Big Split' returns the women we love — Julia, Suzanne, Charlene & Mary Jo — to us on stage. See the partners at Sugarbakers interior design firm tackle the hot button issues of the day, including presidential politics, while closeted during a pandemic. It's a divided 'House of Sugarbakers' in a fiery election season, but these sassy, Southern, designing women remind us of the truth that laughter can unite all of those who will let it. Creator of the much-loved 'Designing Women' TV series, playwright Linda Bloodworth Thomason, moves her characters forward in this new story that still bubbles with good humor and social commentary. Directed by stage veteran Sara Pagones. Performances Friday and Saturday nights, April 5-27, at the Cutting Edge Theater, 767 Robert Boulevard, in Slidell. See the theater's Facebook page for more details.
